The COVID-19 pandemic has placed considerable strain on healthcare systems globally and through this we have seen a rapid shift in care delivery mechanisms, with telehealth and virtual consultations becoming ever more pertinent. In light of the above, over the next 4 months Mediclinic will trial a secure telehealth software platform to facilitate outpatient consultation. Mediclinic will cover the cost of any license fees pertaining to this software provided by Stone Three Healthcare.

Please note some key points below:
  • This software will operate independently of the different practice management solutions and has minimal hardware and bandwidth requirements.
  • It remains the doctors responsibility to ensure that all relevant hardware is present and operational prior to using the system.
  • In terms of clinical care delivery, the doctor will keep abreast of and adhere to the relevant HPCSA Guidelines pertaining to the use of telehealth.
Obtaining patient consent, discerning whether telehealth consultation is appropriate or escalation should be made to in-person consultation, will also remain the responsibility of the treating doctor.
  • No patient data of the consultation will be stored by Mediclinic. The information will be made available in the application for 48 hours after the
consultation and will thereafter be deleted.
  • It remains the doctors responsibility to ensure confidentiality of this content is maintained by their practice and to store this record as part of the patients medical record.

Each doctor applying needs to download and sign the Stone Three Healthcare SLA below that you will need to attach on completion of your application form.
